GALEN TYLER
As a seasoned activist, Cheri Honkala has toured the world speaking about necessities of a global anti-poverty movement and the importance of the human rights framework, particularly economic human rights. She shares stories from her personal life as a single mom struggling with homelessness and hunger in the United States, her meetings with anti-capitalist leaders like Fidel Castro, and her adventures with her Hollywood star son, Mark Weber, and artist son Guillermo Santos.

Galen Tyler is a nationally and internationally recognized anti-poverty and human rights advocate. Originally from Virginia, Tyler is a veteran of the U.S. Army, has been a homeless father, and gained notoriety with Kensington Welfare Rights Union and Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign while moving homeless families into abandoned government-owned houses in order to survive. He has traveled internationally to meet with poor people’s movements, and has appeared in numerous documentary films that highlight his work.
